His Islam Hadhari government threatened the members of the Bersih group with the Internal Security Act (Bersih had asked for a fair and clean election in Malaysia). The cruel Abdullah's government also arrested members of the Hindraf group for the charge of attempted murder (Hindraf stood up after 50 years of continuous discrimination of Malaysian Indians). The same government also arrested lawyers and members of the public for peacefully marching for the World Human Rights Day in Kuala Lumpur.

The "I am in control" premier has repeatedly declared that he would be fair. The big liar Abdullah Ahmad Badawi warned that no one, lawyers included, is above the law and all that involved in illegal activities (street marching without police permit) would face the consequences. Then, how about this? Sleep again, Mr. Prime Minister?

The International Trade and Industry Minister Rafidah Aziz recently announced that the total foreign direct investments (FDI) for Malaysia in 2006 was a record at RM20.2 billion (about US$5.7 billlion). Malaysia's FDI figures dropped from US$4.6 billion in 2004 to US$4.0 billion in 2005.

At the same time, the Malaysian government orchestrated lots of "feel good" news in the recent days, from the RM1 trillion total trade figures in 2006 to the higher economic growth for the country in 2007. The Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who is a big liar himself had even said that Malaysians now enjoyed a higher living standards (no thanks to his cruel Islam Hadhari government).

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has cast doubt over the actual amount of foreign direct investments (FDI) into Malaysia in 2006. According to the UN report (downloadable here and here), Malaysia actually suffered a negative FDI growth in 2006.

UNCTAD reported that Malaysia's FDI inflow suffers a decrease of -1.6% in 2006 dropping from US$4.0 billion to US$3.9 billion, while the whole South East Asian region actually experienced an increase of 13.1 % FDI inflows last year. The UN report shares the same conclusion with the banking giant Citigroup, which in their latest report has mentioned that Malaysia is quickly dropping off the radar screens of global investors.

What's the difference between buying the jet directly and leasing it from a government-owned company? Who pays the bills for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operation) ultimately?

In his most embarassing 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP), the country's economy was projected to grow steadily at 6% annually in order for Malaysia to become a fully-developed country by the year 2020.

But under Abdullah's idiotic Islam Hadhari administration, Malaysia only managed to achieve a 5.8 % growth in 2006 and for 2007, the projected growth for the country is only 5.2 %. Two consecutive years of lower-than-projected growth for the nation.

In stark contrast, the KLSE has reached 1139 points and is still going north. The run-up in the KLSE has nothing to do with Malaysia's economic fundamentals anymore. Huge amounts of dollar-based hot money are now flowing into the region, hoping to make gains from the weakening dollar and pushing up stock prices at the same time. When this hot money exits the scene, the KLSE bull will collapse.

Thailand has taken aggressive proactive steps and slammed foreign speculators with a 12-month retention of 30% of all funds invested in stocks, real estate, bonds and foreign currency borrowings.

But in Malaysia, Abdullah's Ministry of Finance and the central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia are conducting meetings with the hot money scam operators who have proposed borrowing USD$50 billion to fund Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's projects, of which some of them are pathetically stupid.

The Malaysian Prime Minister has did it again. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced that he had allocated RM20 million to redevelope his alma mater, the Bukit Mertajam High School in Penang. An additional RM3.5 million will be given for the restoration work for the Block C of the school.

Either the Prime Minister of Malaysia is lying or sleeping. His racist Islam Hadhari government allocated only RM2.1 million to 96 Chinese-language schools in the country (which is about RM22,000 for each Chinese-medium school). Few months back, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had asked the Malaysian Chinese to be grateful.

During the tabling of the embarassing 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP), the premier himself had acknowledged that there are at least 1,598 schools in Malaysia that do not have piped water and 809 schools do not have electricity supply.

Malaysians have constantly been told to tighten their belts, police stations nationwide have no money for a more comfortable working environment and many schools have no allocation for upkeep, and this 1 school in Penang gets RM23.5 million.

Abdullah's reasoning to give RM23.5 million to his former school was, "we have decided that the school's heritage should be retained". The "I am in control" Prime Minister should have instead say the same thing when his cruel government decided to demolish Bok House in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

We, Malaysian bloggers, we, who believe in justice and right to free speech, we, who endorse the Bloggers United movement, unanimously condemn the action taken by media conglomerate NSTP against bloggers Rocky Bru and Jeff Ooi. The action by the newspaper against the duo is an action against all bloggers who believe in their right to free speech, freedom of expression and justice.

The recent event may seem like a grave development in the path of bloggers, but it can never and must never impede or stop us from defending our right to speak, to express, to write and to tell the truth, to be the watchdog, eyes and ears of the people, or simply to share our view, and give fair comment on any subject which involves and affects us as humans, as rightful citizens of this country.

The recent event may very well give the government owned media the opportunity to dictate the so-called "truth” but such actions only prove that bloggers must unite, continue to uphold the right to free speech and freedom of expression, fight for justice, even if it is not our own, be more alert, committed to the cause of free speech, relentless and persistence in the face of such persecution like the one which had befallen on the two of us.

What YOU do to any of US, is what YOU do to ALL.

As responsible bloggers, we demand and claim our space on the blogosphere for free and fair comment, where important national issues and prominent personalities are discussed.

Although it may seem as if the NSTP defamation suits will have a chilling effect on freedom of bloggers, as litigation can be expensive and may jeorpadise a blogger’s economic position, we will not be cowed or silenced by those who have no regard for free speech.

If you find our post offensive, you may refute us with correct facts and figures and fair comment, in the spirit of free speech.

The first two cases will have grave impact not only on the Internet, but Malaysia as a whole as the country celebrates Visit Malaysia Year (VMY2007). The reputation of the nation as it strives to promote our multimedia supercorridor and love for IT will be a national joke for all the world to feast on.

Over 80,000 people from various parts of Malaysia were evacuated when the country was hit by heavy monsoon rains. Many flood victims complained that the rescue efforts were slow and some were even forced to pay in order to be rescued.

Upon returning from his "successful working trip" to Venezuela, the liar premier took an executive jet (funded by the taxpayers' money, of course) to Perth. It was reported that in Perth, Abdullah opened a nasi kandar restaurant which is co-owned by his brother.

When pressed by the reporters for his comment about this, the Prime Minister said, "I have always monitor the flood situation even from afar". Indeed, Abdullah and his "I am in control" mode again. And the obvious absences of other ministers and government leaders from the affected states add insults to the injuries of the flood victims. Screenshots listed down these people:

Toll protest, Abdullah blames civil servants, Mahathir blames his ministers

The huge public demonstration to protest against Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's cruel highway toll increments took place last weekend in Petaling Jaya. But the mainstream media in the country dared not publish a single photo of the demonstration as they have been "advised" by someone working at the 4th floor of the Prime Minister's office in Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, the sleepy premier is dismayed that while his Islam Hadhari policies have been described as "first class", their implementation still leaves much to be desired because of the poor public delivery system. And today, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said that "there is a lack of transparency in deciding the airport charges in Malaysia". It seems the "perception" that the sleepy Abdullah is talking about is not merely a perception after all.

At the same time, former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad blamed his ministers for the highway toll issue and called for the highway concession agreements to be reviewed and renegotiated. LIE 1: Whenever the Malaysian public protested against the highway tolls increments, the government said that it would "negotiate with the highway concessionaire to reduce the toll rates ".
TRUTH 1: The government had actually decided on the people's behalf (without their knowledge, of course) by fixing and agreeing to the toll rates for the entire highway concession period. There is NO such "negotiation" with the highway concessionaire at all.

LIE 2: Malaysian Works Minister Samy Vellu said that the Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang was allowed to read through the highway concession agreements for 9 hours without finding any flaws.
TRUTH 2: Samy offered the opposition leader a glance at the tender documents (after strong objections in the Parliament) to United Engineers Malaysia (UEM) to construct the North-South Expressway. But the actual concession agreement was awarded to UEM on 18 March 1988 and he NEVER GOT to see it, simply because he was detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) at that time.

LIE 3: The government is telling the people that it needs to compensate LITRAK [the highway concessionaire of the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP)] in order to help lessen road users' burden. Millions of ringgit were compensated to LITRAK by using the taxpayer's money.
TRUTH 3: The toll charges, the compensation to the highway concessionaires and the concessionaire periods DO NOT reflect the actual costs of building the highways. For example, LITRAK had announced in their annual reports that the company has regained the construction costs of LDP. LITRAK's profits: RM56 million (2005) and RM80 million (2006).

Barely 24 hours after this blog posted about Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's decision to go for a 2-week holiday when the country is facing a major flood crisis, the premier returned to the country. Abdullah went to the ground to see for himself on the rescue and relief efforts being undertaken at the affected areas.

And in his Christmas message, the Prime Minister of Malaysia called on all Malaysians to bridge the divides that separate them and build on the similarities that connect them. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi also said that Malaysians must not forget that they share the same future and destiny. "Let us respect our differences, and at the same time strengthen and celebrate our unity in diversity", he said in a message released by the Prime Minister's Department in Putrajaya.

Malaysia is hit by monsoon heavy rains, causing massive evacuation of the people in several states. The floods have claimed 6 human lives so far. Ahmad Sarkawi, Marsiah Ahmad and Nor Azahari Nordin drowned. Teh Sook Ching died after hanging on for 24 hours for help to get her to the hospital. Her family members had called various authorities for immediate aid but efforts to reach their home were hampered by shoulder-deep waters. Bodies of M. Mageswari and A. Muniandy were found in a car submerged in waters.

Residents climbing onto a wall to escape the rising flood waters, as household items and debris float out to the front yard from their homes.

A family of 9 members survived for 2 days, relying on the water from a kettle. Ramachandran said his family managed to climb up to the upper floor of his double-storey house and smashed the windows before asking for help. "My children were crying for food, and many other families also faced the same problem. The rescue team reached here very late." He said that some of the rescue workers also asked for money from the flood victims.

Desperate: Affected residents being evacuated

Shops in the affected areas ran out of essential goods in panic hoarding. Worried relatives in other parts of Malaysia tried in vain to call their relatives who were trapped in the floods as phone lines went dead.

In these desperate hours, the sleepy and liar Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi decided to reward himself a 2-week holiday overseas to sleep even more. Over 80,000 Malaysians are suffering now, losing their homes and valuables and the "I am in control" premier is holidaying. So much for his evil and cruel Islam Hadhari government.

Bok House, located on Jalan Ampang nearby the Petronas Twin Towers is probably one of the most visible yet least remembered relic of early Kuala Lumpur. The home will probably be best remembered as Le Coq d'or (The Golden Cockerel), a small restaurant and bar which florished in the early 60's and continued to run until the house was closed to the public in 2001. Well-known civil engineering firm of Swan & Maclaren designed and built the Bok House in 1929, which represented Kuala Lumpur's grandest neo-classical mansion.

However, Bok House is now gone, forever.

When the fuel price was increased in early 2006, the government with the idiotic Islam Hadhari Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the hike could not be avoided due to escalating world oil price at that time. But when the world oil price started to ease in the final quarter of the year, the government said NO when asked if the fuel price will be lowered accordingly.

Then comes the higher tariff for the electricity. A 12% increment. As usual, the lying Malaysian government told Malaysians that "our electricity rate is still the lowest in the region". Next, the water tariff. Water costs more in the self-declared state of Selangor. After numerous times of water tariff adjustments since the new millenium, Malaysians were promised that "the water will be cleaner". Of course, the ripples of these increments have caused higher living costs. Higher price for the favourite mee goreng (fried noodle), higher price for the vegetables, higher price for the public transportation etc.

And now, the sleepy Prime Minister of Malaysia has declared that his cruel government will "share the burden of the people" by increasing the toll rates of 5 major highways in the Klang Valley (with more toll increments for other highways in 2008). Knowing that more and more Malaysians no longer believe in what the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is saying, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had a closed-door meeting with the editors-in-chief of all newspapers and television stations in the country, telling them not to play up the toll increments.

Meanwhile, Works Minister Samy Vellu defended the toll increments, saying that "the toll rate is RM0.136 per kilometre for us, it is RM0.227 in Thailand". Either the bald Works Minister is fooling the people or he really does not know that there's no tolled-highway from Bukit Kayu Hitam (Malaysia) all the way to the capital Bangkok on toll-free highways.

Billions of ringgit of the people's money were wasted to bail out ailing companies. A total of RM11 billion was pumped to rescue companies under weak bumiputera leadership such as the Putra LRT (RM4.5 billion), STAR LRT (RM 3 billion) and Malaysia Airlines (RM2.8 billion). Useless and wasteful projects worth RM1 trillion were announced so far.

But the Malaysian government choose not to take over the 5 highways in the Klang Valley (total takeover costs will be RM4.3 billion) to scrap the toll collection to truly ease the burden of the people. Instead, the government is happier to "help the people" by paying RM2.6 billion of the people's money annually to the highway companies as part of a compensation for not increasing the tolls even higher.

The government (which last increased the civil servants pay in 1992) has not entertained the civil servants' plea for a salary revision - some of the civil servants earn below the poverty line. Even if the government agrees to a 40% increment of the salaries as requested by the civil servants, it will only costs an additional RM6 billion, which is a no-match when compared with Petronas' RM41.7 billion income tax to the government last year.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi during his interview with The Bangkok Post has said that, "the old man (former premier Tun Dr. Mahathir) practically smashed (my son-in-law) Khairy's pot of rice". The half-past six Prime Minister did not realised that he has smashed the pot of rice of many Malaysians out there. And during his interview with CNN, the premier has said that the Malaysian Chinese should be grateful.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi cannot be challenged. UMNO members who dared to challenge him were warned, reprimanded and kicked out from the party. His Barisan Nasional (BN) component party members such as the MCA and MIC are his dogs. They knew that they cannot challenge the weak Prime Minister. So much for Abdullah's Islam Hadhari fairytale.

When Abdullah took over the country's administration, he stopped the Johor-Singapore bridge project, he stopped the East Coast Highway project, he stopped the Ipoh-Rawang double track rail electrification project. He asked the people to focus on agriculture instead.

Then, former premier Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad said that Abdullah is slowing down Malaysia's economic growth. Statistics showed that the foreign direct investments (FDI) into Malaysia is dropping. The country's rankings fell, in the aspect of university ranking, economic ranking, corruption perception index ranking, competitiveness ranking and flawed democracy index.

All these are big challenges to Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who cannot be challenged. And so, to prove that he is not slowing down the economy, he woke up from his sleep. Within these few weeks, Malaysians were shown various supermega multi-billion ringgit projects by his evasive government. The RM3 billion Second Penang Bridge project was announced in such a rush manner (never mind that the project draft plan was completed in less than 3 weeks without any call for tender).

RM100 billion will be spent to create the South Johor Economic Region (SJER) - also known as the Iskandar Development Region. It is OK if the Singapore-Johor bridge project is cancelled or Disneyland does not want to come to Johor. Abdullah has the SJER to show that "I am in control".

Then, the Malaysian Prime Minister announced a RM400 million project for the new National Palace project. Again, it was announced in such a rush manner and the project was awarded to an unknown company.

Then, Abdullah announced a RM9 billion undersea power cable link project, to link Sarawak's Bakun hydroelectric power dam to the Peninsular. And one wonders why there's a need to build a coal-powered power plant in Sabah that will costs another RM200 million?

Then, the state government of Melaka announced a RM21 million observation tower project in the central of the historical Melaka town, much to the objection of the residents and taxpayers.

Then, in the racist UMNO annual general assembly, the premier announced that RM600 million will be distributed among the UMNO head of divisions for the country's development and this money must be spent within the next 6 weeks.

Earlier, his government had announced a useless RM490 million sports complex project in London. Then, his government announced a RM320 million project to build a resource centre for Bank Negara Malaysia. The project was given to an unknown company again.

Next, his government made the announcement to build a RM30 million Ferris wheel in Kuala Lumpur as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 attractions. The "Eye on Malaysia" ferris wheel will be similar to the "Eye of London" wheel in central London, United Kingdom.

Indeed, the premier cannot be challenged at all. Otherwise, more stupid projects will be announced. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi already announced projects worth over RM1 trillion in total, including the most embarassing 9th Malaysia Plan.

Malaysian authorities are cruel, corrupted and condemned

Local authorities in Malaysia under the weak leadership of the liar Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi are absolutely cruel, corrupted and condemned.

A Chinese temple in Penang was rudely demolished. Hindu temples across the country were demolished. An illegal palace with an observation tower owned by the Klang councillor (and Klang UMNO chairman) remained untouched. Millions of ringgit were wasted to build non-functioning clock towers and ugly artificial plants in towns and cities. The government came up with various transparently-stupid reasons to continue their corrupt and "Malaysia Bodoh" practices.

Even though the poor Malay residents in Kampung Berembang have nowhere else to go, the local authority (Ampang Jaya Municipal Council - MPAJ) decided to demolish their houses. A stop-work order from the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya failed to stop the self-declared developed state of Selangor's Khir Toyo from kicking the people out from their 30-year-old houses. Scores were arrested for trying to protect their houses from being torn down. Homeless mothers and children spent the night without any roof on their heads. CRUEL.

Residents performed their prayers by the road-side after the surau in Kg. Berembang was demolished while the children prepares for their examination in the open space.

At the same time, newly-appointed councillors of the Selayang municipal council (MPS) decided to reward themselves by spending RM40,000.00 to have its full board meeting in Awana Resort, Genting Highlands. MPS councillor Datuk Tang See Hang (BN-Rawang) said, "the seminar is beneficial...councillors can brush-up their knowledge on local authority by-laws". Some 50 staff, including heads of departments would be attending the 3-day event and staying at the 40 double deluxe rooms, enjoying 5 meals per day at the hill resort. The entire cost is borne by the taxpayers' money. CORRUPTED.

Despite tonnes of condemnation letters, emails and SMSes, the Malaysian authorities closed their eyes and ears and keep on telling the nation that "no one is above the law" and "semuanya OK!" (everything is OK!). The local authorities in Malaysia were condemned and will continue to be condemned. CONDEMNED!

MCA proves to be UMNO's dog

The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) is supposed to uphold the benefits and defend the welfare of the Malaysian Chinese community in the country. However, MCA's existence today in the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition is not to represent the Malaysian Chinese voice in BN, but to bring the UMNO voice to the Chinese community.

The decision to buy Nanyang Press Holdings led to the disunity of the Chinese-based MCA. Team A led by former President Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik bowed to UMNO's order to control Nanyang's newspapers through MCA's investment arm, Huaren Holdings. But Team B led by former Deputy President Datuk Lim Ah Lek refused to comply with UMNO's U Must Not Object instruction to purchase Nanyang.

Now, the MCA will be the dog of UMNO again by going down to the grassroots to explain the recent UMNO's racist remarks. MCA top leaders including its four useless ministers, will meet with grassroots leaders by way of a nationwide roadshow to explain the party's stand on several current issues, including the racist remarks made by UMNO delegates.

There is actually no need to explain anything to the grassroot leaders. MCA should instead meet up with their BN partners to lodge their unhappiness and uneasiness over the remarks made. MCA should not end up explaining UMNO's Islam Hadhari racist policies.

However, Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) in a statement has said, "PNB has yet to see a proposal to merge three of its plantations companies. Synergy Drive is not our company". On the taking over of Southern Bank to become CIMB Group

Southern Bank Berhad (SBB) was originally a Chinese-based bank headed by Datuk Tan Teong Hean. Southern Bank then admitted some friendly bumiputera shareholders including the Sultan of Selangor. Subsequently, these bumiputera partners decided to sell out SBB shares to CIMB, a bumiputera banking group.

Datuk Tan and SBB major shareholders were very furious and resisted the hostile takeover by Nazir Razak (brother of Deputy UMNO President Najib Tun Razak) of CIMB and made attempts to rebuff the takeover. He even went to see the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi but to no avail. Proof of UMNO = U Must Not Object.

On the illegal mansion belonging to the Klang UMNO Chief Datuk Zakaria Mat Deros

Selangor UMNO chief and Menteri Besar Khir bin Toyo was asked on whether Zakaria's illegal mansion in Klang will be demolished. On the sacking of Umno member Zaharin Yasin

The Umno Supreme Council led by Umno President and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi met to discuss on the fate of Umno member Zaharin Yasin, who is alleged to have breached party rules and discipline by criticising Abdullah in the Sang Kelambai blog that he owned. Earlier, the Umno Disciplinary Board had met and decided that his 'crime' is not serious enough to warrant sacking. This was the Disciplinary Board’s decision that was brought to the Supreme Council.

But before the Deputy President Najib Tun Razak could even finish reading out the Board’s report, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi interrupted him and proposed that Zaharin be sacked from the party. The depositors at Tabung Haji rejected a proposal to list TH Plantations at the KL stock exchange. This issue was brought up at both Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara in the Parliament. But Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (who has been saying "I will listen to the people") decided on himself to proceed with the listing of TH Plantations. A police report was made by PPIM together with Amir Hamzah (President of the Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress) and Datuk Paduka Saharuddin Awang Yahya (President of the Yayasan Bakti Khidmat Masyarakat Malaysia) with regards to the symbol of cross found at the Walls' Moo biscuit.

Under the Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's half-past six Islam Hadhari administration, everything is really possible. Even the abuse of power in the daylight, suffering of the people and politicians breaking the law are OK.

In the same week when a Chinese temple in Penang was rudely demolished, hundreds of residents in Kampung Berembang turned homeless as another local council in the self-declared developed state of Selangor decided to demolish 51 houses of the poor people. The Malay village is located less than 10km from the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

Bernama and Malaysiakini reported that the residents could only stand in the rain with their crying children and watch in despair as their homes of 40 years were torn down by 5 bulldozers from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), on the order of the Selangor government led by the son of an Indonesian immigrant.

The villagers were outnumbered by hundreds of MPAJ enforcement officials

A stand-off ensued between the demolition squad and the villagers, which resulted in an open clash. Malaysian police moved in and arrested 9 people for prohibiting the demolition of the houses. 4 houses were demolished but following a tense situation in the village, the operation was called off for a while. Mysteriously, 2 of the houses were razed in a fire during the demolition operation.

Then after some time, the MPAJ officials tried to demolish the houses again and this time another 14 people were arrested for trying to stop the demolition. MPAJ then proceeded to demolish the houses.

Earlier on the day, the Prime Minister's Department had issued a letter addressed to the liar Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo asking to defer the demolition of the houses to next year. But MPAJ Town Planning Director Awang Mustapha Md Yunus said, "we have referred back to the Selangor state government and we have obtained their green light".

Even an order from Putrajaya is not powerful enough to stop the demolition works

This is again another proof of Malaysia being a police state. Whilst Zakaria's illegal mansion in Klang remains as it is until today, the poor people's houses were discriminately demolished. And one wonders how the sleepy premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is still in control with all the lies and people's sufferings.

Chinese temple demolition proves Malaysia is a police state

Local Penang Chinese residents have condemned the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) as "rubbish" for rudely demolishing the Tou Mu Kung temple in Bukit Mertajam. The demolition exercise saw tempers flare to the point that the Malaysian police had to fire warning shots.

A police report has been lodged on the excessive force used during the fracas which ensued when MPSP enforcement officers refused to let the temple devotees remove statues of the deities before proceeding with the demolition.

"The policeman shouted to me saying that he did not care even if the temple members died during the incident", said Penang state assemblyperson Lau Chiek Tuan. At the same time, Bukit Mertajam opposition parliamentarian Chong Eng said that "one man (from the temple) was already on the ground and there were 6 men pinning him down".

Meanwhile, the "MPSP is rubbish" banner also featured a rhyming couplet: "Rumah besar tak berani, Rumah tokong tak peduli" - means "Big house don't dare, temple don't care".

More and more people are getting dissatisfied with the Malaysian government

This referred to Klang's MPK councillors building palatial mansions without approved plans. These illegal palaces still stand as the local authorities have not taken any action (thanks to the son of an Indonesian immigrant who had threatened the people).

In Malaysia, a number of Hindu, Chinese and Christian temples and shrines are deemed illegal structures due to bureaucratic impediments and hitches in obtaining building permits for them.

And the disrespect and overzealous actions of the authorities to demolish them prove that Malaysia is indeed a police state, of which the sleepy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his Islam Hadhari administration has conveniently denied.

Chinese temple demolished, Zakaria's mansion stays

Merely 24 hours after the half-past six Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has said that "race and religious tensions have not reached worrying level", a Chinese temple in Penang was demolished in a hurried way, throwing aside all the government's claims of religious tolerance.

The demolition works (on the specific instruction of the Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) President Datuk Md Aris Ariffin) of the Tou Mu Kung temple turned ugly on with Malaysian police firing warning shots to quell protests. Reuters and The Star reported that the police fired two shots in the air to disperse a crowd of 300 which turned unruly during demolition work of the Chinese temple in Bukit Mertajam.

"No respect at all"

About 40 people scuffled with 80 police and municipal officials at the Taoist temple (built in 1985) soon after the structure was cordoned off for demolition. Three people including a policeman were injured in the incident. MPSP officials said that the temple was built without planning approval. Whilst Zakaria's illegal RM8 million palace in Klang is still standing (no thanks to the son of an Indonesian immigrant), several local councils in Malaysia had over the years targeted Hindu temples and now, it is the Chinese temples that they are targeting.

"They didn't allow anyone to go in and pick up the statues and deities of the Gods and that made the people angry", said Chong Eng, a lawmaker and member of the opposition Democratic Action Party. "The people forced the gate to enter the temple", she added.

Earlier of the week, UMNO leaders have warned the nation's Chinese and Indian minorities to stop questioning Malay privileges or risk hurting race relations. The sleepy Prime Minister Abdullah has said that "it's time to remind people to lay down the ground rules". Recently, the premier has said that the Malaysian Chinese should be grateful. Under Abdullah's failing Islam Hadhari, there are truly different rules for different people.

The New Economic Policy (NEP)'s 30% bumiputera corporate equity, the figure that the Malaysian Government uses to justify handing over huge swathes of public companies to Malays but not to other races is absurd. It bases its figure on equity valued, not at market value, but at par value.

Many shares have a par value of RM1 but a market value of RM12 for example. And so the Government figure (18.9% is the most recent figure) is a gross underestimate. A paper by a researcher at a local think-tank came up with a figure of 45% based on actual stock prices. All hell broke loose. The paper was withdrawn and the researcher resigned in protest. Part of the problem is that he is an ethnic Chinese.

"Malaysia boleh!" is Malaysia's national catch cry. It translates to "Malaysia can!" and Malaysia certainly can.

The KLCC development in central Kuala Lumpur is an example. It certainly wasn't that there was an office shortage in Kuala Lumpur — there wasn't. Malaysians had little to do with it. The money for the constructions came out of the ground and the engineering was contracted out to South Korean companies. They don't even run the shopping centre that's beneath them. That's handled by Australia's Westfield.

Earlier, the Government under the sleepy Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced that it would spend RM490 million on a sports complex near the London Olympics site so that Malaysian athletes can train there and "get used to cold weather". But the summer Olympics are held in the summer. So what is the complex's real purpose?

In 2007, a Malaysian astronaut will go into space aboard a Russian rocket — the first Malay in space. And the cost? RM95 million, to be footed by Malaysian taxpayers. Malaysia's first astronaut will do what no one in space has done before: play traditional Malay children's games without gravity, batik painting, making teh tarik and spin traditional Malay tops (gasing) in space.

A doctor and a dentist, chosen through stringent tests from thousands of qualified candidates. One of them will be Malaysia's glorified astronaut. How stupid he must be feeling to do batik painting and making teh tarik in space.

Bank bail outs, F1 racing track, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, Southern Johor Economic Region (SJER) — Petronas has and will pay for them all. It's been an orgy of nonsense that Malaysia can ill afford. Why? Because Malaysia's oil will run out in about 19 years. As it is, Malaysia will become a net oil importer in 2011 — that's just 5 years away.

The Malaysian Government is more interested in self-made feel-good stunts like sending a Malaysian into space when Malaysia's inadequate schools could have done with the cash, and arguing about wealth distribution using transparently ridiculous statistics.

That's not Malaysia Boleh, that's Malaysia Bodoh (stupid).

Abdullah's Islam Hadhari down to the drain

New Straits Times journalist Melissa Darlyne Chow, 23, was on duty covering the council meeting at the Penang Municipal Council when the CCTV operator in the control room had outraged her modesty by focussing the camera on her thighs.

The incident came to light after a fellow journalist spotted the images on the CCTV monitor in the control room. The camera had been focusing on the women’s thighs for more than 15 minutes, which later caused one of them to break down in tears after seeing her picture on the monitor.

Instead of ordering a full investigation on the matter, Penang Municipal Council's president Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan has said, "the CCTV incident would not have happened if the journalist’s attire was not sexy". The president blamed the sexual harassment on the victim.

"Sandiwara" in the Malaysian Parliament

Malaysia's Parliament has always been the centre stage for political drama, known as "sandiwara" in the national language. From the MPs (members of Parliament) calling each other as animals to the insults of the Malaysian Indians community (some MPs pathetically labelled them as keling), there's always some interesting things to watch whenever the August House is in sitting.

The latest sandiwara was on last Monday. As a result of the Klang councillors' issue, MP Teresa Kok (from DAP) moved that the House debate the reintroduction of the council elections across Malaysia. However, Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib said, "the motion was of specific nature and of public interest but it is not urgent". And so the motion was rejected.

The next day, another motion was moved in the Parliament. MP Rahman Ismail (from BN) moved that the House debate the situation in Palestine vis-a-vis the acrocities committed by Israel. The same speaker ruled that the motion was specific in nature, of public interest and urgent. So urgent that Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar rushed down from Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) on the hill in Putrajaya to take part in the debate in Kuala Lumpur.

And now, we are trying to tell ourselves that our country is doing quite well. With newspapers' headlines saying that the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) has breached the 1,000 mark, it seems that the good ol' days are coming back. Are you really sure? Read on...

Let us compare ourselves with our neighbours (after all, whenever the fuel price goes up, you will hear that "our price is still the lowest in the region"). Malaysia's market capital has consistently fallen over the last 10 years by a huge margin (40%), which equals to US$117 billion or RM427 billion. The loss is staggering and mind blowing especially when the other 8 countries in the same region managed to increase their market capital by an average of 134%.

What actually went wrong? Malaysia's market capital should have increased by about 53% over the 10-year period. It would then take 6th place in the above table, between Singapore and Thailand. This growth would imply a market capitalisation of US$452 billion in 2005. The difference between this number and the actual number is US$274 billion or one trillion ringgit (RM1,000,000,000,000). This amount is so large, that divided by the number of Malaysians, it would equal to RM38,000 per every Malaysian!

Prime Minister Abdullah scolded by Johor Sultan

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi tried his best to hide his weaknesses by diverting the attention of the people to the embarassing 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP). Yesterday, he was in Johor to launch the 9MP's multi billion ringgit South Johor Economic Region (SJER) project, also known as the Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar. The controversial Johor ruler Sultan Iskandar was also present in the SJER launch event.

The sultan embarasses Abdullah by saying that the 83-year-old causeway to Singapore was undermining the state's economy and is a vestige of colonialism. Sultan Iskandar said that the causeway, which blocks the natural flow of water in the Straits of Johor, must be demolished and allow ships to go through. To the shock of the 2,000 people present and thousands of viewers at home of the live telecast over RTM 1 and TV3, the sultan digressed from his written text and said the Johor Causeway should be removed. Abdullah skipped the press conference after the event.

It is the same Johor causeway/crooked bridge issue that first created the tension between Abdullah and former premier Tun Dr. Mahathir (Abdullah's government had reversed Mahathir's decision to build a bridge to Singapore). Abdullah had said the causeway will remain as it is as "it is the people's wish".

Analysts and economists have voiced concerns over the SJER project. The government has long dreamed of turning sleepy southern Johor into a Hong Kong-style metropolis, but instead abandoned buildings mar the Johor's skyline and nervous Singaporean investors shy away. Scores of ugly concrete pillars bristle from the seabed alongside the failed RM6.3 billion JB Waterfront City project.

Perhaps the sleeping Abdullah should look into why the state continues to be plagued by other problems instead of continuing to lie to the people. These include high crime rates, traffic snarl, corruption, poor city planning, a narrow channel of water with one of highest toxic levels in the world, highest inflation in Malaysia due to massive inflow of the stronger Singapore dollar and a whole colony of underground industries to cater to Singaporeans and others (DVD piracy and prostitution).

Khir Toyo is right for once

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd. Khir bin Toyo said that the assemblymen in the self-declared "developed" state should be allowed to retain their councillorship, adding that "I hope other assemblymen won’t be dropped from any local council. It would be more difficult if they (state assemblymen) are outside (the council)".

"Selangor is developing and there are many complaints on infrastructure such as on potholes, clogged drains and non functioning streetlights. I just want to say Selangor is different", the evil menteri besar concluded. He is right for once. Selangor is indeed different from other states in Malaysia because:

1) No other state has a true-blue Indonesian as the Menteri Besar. Bahasa Jawa is made the official language in the Office of the Selangor Menteri Besar.

2) No other state government in Malaysia has dared to defy a Royal command.

3) None of the other states have attempted to pull wool over the people's eyes by claiming to be fully developed. How could the state be fully developed when "there are many complaints on infrastructure such as on potholes, clogged drains and non functioning streetlights"?

4) No other state has fudged statistics to back the lie of developed status. And when caught out, to bluff more, to hide the earlier lie. At the same time, the state has some of the "most developed" problems not seen in any other state.

5) No other state menteri besar / chief minister has openly condoned the rape of large tracts of nature's forests and hills and dismissed outrage and concern with "Semuanya OK!".

6) No state has forged the official minutes of meetings to escape court action.

7) No state has openly supported the wrongdoing of corrupt politicians with great zeal as in Selangor.

8) No other state government leader has openly threatened the people of his state with massive retribution when the demolition of a palace built from the ill-gotten gains of his colleague and partner was demanded.

9) No other state takes action against Malaysian squatters while letting those illegals from Indonesia go scot-free.

10) No state other than Selangor has so many Umno politicians with a weakness and partiality for palace-style living and build them illegally with impunity.

Prime Minister Abdullah is a big liar

LIE: Premier Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that over 200,000 Malaysians attended his 2006 Hari Raya open house event at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur recently. The sleeping and evasive Prime Minister of Malaysia said that the high numbers of people who turned up at the event showed that he still command the support from the people.

TRUTH: Supposed that the weak Abdullah was able to shake the hands of 2 people in every second, it means that he managed to shake the hands of 120 people in 1 minute's time. For 1 hour, the premier should have managed to welcome 7,200 people to his open house. The event in PWTC only lasted for 5 hours, therefore theoritically he can only managed to shake the hands of about 36,000 people. Abdullah needs about 27 hours to shake the hands of 200,000 people.

"Work with me, not work for me" is the first lie of Abdullah when he became the premier

Abdullah has turned into a big liar despite leading the country for only 3 years so far. The Prime Minister lied about his son's involvement in securing government contracts, total bumiputera's equity in the country's economy cake and many others.

Abdullah's conspiracy in UMNO

The Umno Supreme Council led by Umno President and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi met on 28 September 2006. On the agenda was what to do with Umno member Zaharin Yasin, who is alleged to have breached party rules and discipline by criticising Abdullah in the Sang Kelambai blog that he owned.

Earlier, the Umno Disciplinary Board had met and decided that his 'crime' is not serious enough to warrant sacking. A reprimand and warning would suffice. This was the Disciplinary Board’s decision that was brought to the Supreme Council, but before the Deputy President (and Deputy Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak could even finish reading out the Board’s report, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi interrupted him and proposed that Zaharin be sacked from the party.

Half the Umno Supreme Council members did not even realise what was going on. Some were chatting and joking. Others were on their phones or sending SMSes. All they heard was some members saying, "Setuju!" (agree!).

Setuju with the sacking of Zaharin? When was this decision taken? Nope, it was not discussed or debated. Datuk Seri Najib attempted to read the report, but before he could read even halfway through, Abdullah butted in and proposed that Zaharin be sacked. One member said "setuju" and half of the Supreme Council echoed the Prime Minister. The other half looked at each other with puzzled looks on their faces.

Umno members were allowed to criticise a lot of things before Abdullah became Prime Minister. They can criticise the Malays. They can criticise the Sultans and call them pirates and robbers (even though the Sedition Act 1948 is there). Umno Deputy President Najib has threatened to bathe a keris (dagger) with Chinese blood. They can criticise Islam. They can even criticise the Quran and Allah by declaring that Islamic laws as outdated and stupid in this modern day and age. But they must never criticise Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

This is worse than criticising Allah. And for that, Zaharin has to go. The credibility and independence of Umno’s Disciplinary Board is over. The party president can now just brush aside and ignore its decisions. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is now the one-man Disciplinary Board in Umno.

Khir Toyo and his "developed" lies

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd. Khir Toyo should be promoted to become the "most developed Menteri Besar" in Malaysia for his lies:

LIE: "I will follow the orders, which say that the appointment of councillors has to be according to their party positions. So, if there is any problem, we will refer to the party management", said Khir at a press conference on Wednesday 18 Oct 2006. Then on Saturday 28 Oct 2006, he said, "The state exco has deliberated on this matter. We have already made a decision to withdraw the councillorship from Zakaria."
TRUTH: The state exco meets every Wednesday, and unless it met on the second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Wednesday 25 Oct 2006), it does not compute, but it all seems part of a sandiwara.

LIE: Khir Toyo gave an ultimatum to Zakaria - resign or be sacked from his position as a councillor of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).
TRUTH: Zakaria's term as MPK councillor ended in Sept 2006. He was supposed to be sworn in for another term on 19 Oct 2006, but that ceremony was called off. Technically, Zakaria is not a councillor, how could he resign or be sacked?

As long as Khir Toyo remains as the menteri besar of Selangor, all's not well in the country's only self-declared fully developed state.

We should demolish all illegal structures in Selangor. You guys better watch out".

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi needs to divert the attention of the country when his former boss Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad continues his "doses of venom" attacks on his 3-year-old administration.

Latest, the Malaysian premier capitalised on the country's improved ranking of press freedom index, released by the Paris-based Reporters Without Borders' 2006 Worldwide Press Freedom Index. The report said that Malaysia jumped from the 113th spot last year to 92nd rank this year.

However, Malaysian reporters are questioning the report, as the following events in 2006 clearly show that "a climate of fear has enveloped in this country", as claimed by Dr. Mahathir:

Press freedom in Malaysia is effectively curbed through the use of legislation that gives the politicians absolute powers to take action against dissenting voices. Caught with pants down on bumiputera equity issue

While the Malaysian Government is still keeping quiet on its bumiputera's 18.9% equity calculation methodology, another report has come up, saying that the New Economic Policy (NEP)'s target of 30% bumiputera equity ownership had been achieved (at par value and not market value) at about a decade ago in 1997.

The research was conducted in 2002 by Universiti Malaya (UM) academician Dr. M Fazilah Abdul Samad, and it was based on a 10-year analysis of bumiputera equity ownership between 1988 and 1997 of public listed companies on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE), now known as Bursa Malaysia. It found that the bumiputera equity ownership target was exceeded in 1997 when it hit 33.7%, comprising bumiputera corporate equity ownership of 30.6%, and individual bumiputera share ownership at 3.1%.

Two weeks ago, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reiterated his government's stand that the country has yet to achieve the 30% bumiputera equity ownership target, relying on the figure calculated by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) that is based on the par value of shares of 600,000 registered companies in the country.

Abdullah's half-past six government is caught with pants down (again). How much longer that he can hide behind the "I want to focus on the 9th Malaysia Plan" curtain, which is a laughing stock for the whole nation.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had said that Malaysians have the right to question the government or to seek answers on issues. He said, "if the people question, then we must have answers. We do not have a problem. If we are transparent, what is the problem?". Just a day earlier, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the government’s methodology to calculate bumiputra equity ownership was no secret and could be disclosed.

More than a week has passed since the Cabinet meeting last Wednesday but there had not been an official word about the controversy at all.

Well then, my question is: Why then the conspicuous and thunderous silence on the part of the Cabinet in the past week on the public release of the methodology and data used by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) to compute the 18.9% bumiputra equity ownership and to rebut the 45% figure in the ASLI's report?

My question is: Did the Cabinet last Wednesday take a decision to release the methodology and data used for the Economic Planning Unit (EPU)’s figure of 18.9% bumiputra equity ownership or has the whole issue been swept under the carpet?

My question is: When a leader claims that he is in control, why wasn't he able to give an immediate response to the people's enquiry?

My question is: Why does the Prime Minister needs to "prepare answers" while everything should be on his fingertips?

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the government will respond to former prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad's allegations against the government and the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
FACT: The responses (so far) are just denials, unsubstantiated with no concrete proofs.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that Malaysians should stop debating on ASLI's 45% bumiputra equity issue, and that "the government’s methodology to calculate bumiputra equity ownership was no secret and could be disclosed".
FACT: Datuk Seri Najib himself had earlier said that "the government will continue to insist on the official data. We hope this will be accepted and will not be questioned by anyone".

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that "Abdullah needed time to answer all the latest allegations by Dr. Mahathir because they were only raised last Sunday".
FACT: The allegations were not raised only on last Sunday. They have been raised by Tun. Dr. Mahathir about 6 months ago. Even school kids submitted their project reports earlier and do not ask for more time.

Sultan Johor makes a fool of himself

The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Iskandar al-Marhum Sultan Ismail had publicly said that former prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad should start acting like a pensioner and stop criticising the government. "If one has already been pensioned, just behave like a pensioner, what is the use of making more noise?", said the Sultan in his Hari Raya speech.

The Sultan of Johor is making a fool of himself. He must have forgotten that Tun. Dr. Mahathir had helped him so many times before. The eldest son of Sultan Ismail, Sultan Iskandar was named Tunku Mahmood Iskandar. However, as all other Sultans of Johor with the name "Mahmood" met with an uneasy end, he dropped his first name upon succeeding his father on May 10, 1981.

Sultan Iskandar is a controversial figure in Malaysia. Appointed Tunku Mahkota or Crown Prince in 1959, he was dismissed from that post in 1961 by his father after being found guilty of assault in the Malaysian courts and sentenced to imprisonment. However, Sultan Ismail relented on his deathbed and restored Tunku Mahmood Iskandar to the succession ten days before the former died.

While he was Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia), Sultan Iskandar created further controversy by assaulting and killed a golf caddy. The golf caddy laughed when the Sultan missed a golf stroke, and he was murdered on the spot. The brother of the caddy, a Royal Malaysian soldier, who was badly injured, subsequently ran amok in Kuala Lumpur causing a security scare. The soldier was later arrested and sent to a mental hospital. Tun Dr. Mahathir helped the sultan and nothing happened to the ruler of Johor.

And then, the Johor sultan assaulted a hockey coach and teacher, Mr Douglas Gomez and this sparked a constitutional crisis between the Malaysian government and the Malay Rulers which culminated in the removal of the legal immunity from prosecution of all the rulers in March 1993.

Sultan Iskandar, however, continues to be immune from prosecution for his previous offences as the law which provides for the rulers to be stripped of their legal immunity was not made retroactive (eg. having a backdating effect).

If not because of Tun. Dr. Mahathir, the Sultan is probably spending his lifetime in the jail now instead of being able to speak in the public asking Tun not to make anymore noise. Indeed, "Melayu mudah lupa" (Malays forget easily).

Third world mentality

Former deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has claimed that the Malaysian government has allocated over half billion ringgit to the University of Cambridge. Anwar said that both Petronas and Khazanah Nasional have come up with over RM190 million each and the rest of the fund will be collected from some foreign banks that are based in Malaysia.

Can this be due to our hopeless local universities (but Universiti Malaya has said that "we are still the top 200 in the world"), or is it because the government wants to connect and link up certain individuals so that we can show to the world that Malaysia Boleh? This is very disturbing because we still have students who are not attending school because they are hungry and starve.

In Ulu Baram (Miri, Sarawak), the 106 Penan boys and girls at Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Lellang have been attending classes on an empty stomach for almost 2 years now. These students survive on a single meal of porridge and boiled young papayas and jungle shoots.

"Yesterday, I was very hungry and almost fainted. We didn’t get anything for dinner the previous day and yesterday we only had a single meal of porridge and boiled young papaya", said 7-year-old Vicky Ayub. Seluma Jalong, a volunteer in the Chief Minister’s office said, "how can we convince the Penan parents to send their kids to school when they are practically starve over there?".

A recent New Straits Times (NST) visit to the school's hostel found a shaky, 2-storey wooden structure which was built by the villagers more than a decade ago. There were no beds, mattresses, pillows or blankets.

Our government really should be proud of having this kind of third world mentality when managing the country's pool of wealth and resources. So much for PM Abdullah's "we are ready for the final assault on human capital development". Bullshit.

On the PM's honesty: How does he get involved with the United Nations Iraq Oil-For-Food business? He says he is not involved but his name is there as a beneficiary. As far as I am concerned, you should not write letters of recommendation for your own relative.

On Zakaria's illegal mansion in Klang: As soon as the controversy blew up, he lost his temper and wanted to saman (fine) RM45,000. Then he left for umrah together with Zakaria and Zakaria was his tour leader, then came back to Malaysia and asked for RM24,000. I can tell you that he had actually visited the house because the house had been there for 3 years already. Here is a palace stuck in a poverty stricken area but he did not make a comment. He makes a comment because this time the public knows.

On Malaysia being a police state: The public is very critical of the present condition of the economy, the present system of administration, the involvement of family members, telephone calls, contracts won by his children’s company.

On Proton: Few years back, Proton made RM1.5 billion ringgit profit. Now, it is losing money. He has destroyed Proton.

On Bumiputera's equity: Let’s clear this up. For every criticism directed at the government, the answer is "don’t question this thing", "don’t raise this issue", "stop talking about this".

On Khairy Jamaluddin: This is someone who had just joined UMNO and who had not shown any (bakti) to Umno but won without contest and there were messages through the telephone that everyone had to vote.

On his isolation: The Menteri Besar will come and give warning. Tengku Razaleigh said Annuar Musa said “I will make sure he does not speak”. I don’t know what “making sure” means but what actually happened is that when I went there, I wasn’t allowed to speak.

In a press conference, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd. Khir bin Toyo said:
"The new tariff is to teach the people not to waste the water. We have to discipline the people".

The people are already being burdened with the high fuel price, electricity tariff, groceries and other services. At the same time, both state and local authorities are spending millions of ringgit to build large ugly useless monuments. Don't you think that it is high time to "teach" back the Menteri Besar and his cronies who disregard and act above the law?

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad in his CNN interview has said that the Malaysian Chinese achieved what they have today because the Government provided them opportunities to be successful. Well, he's not so correct.

A 28-year-old Malaysian Chinese director, Tan Chui Mui was the big winner at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea on Friday 21st October 2006, bagging an international movie critics' award and sharing the prize for best new Asian filmmaker. Tan Chui Mui's "Love Conquers All" movie is a love story between a small town girl and a guy whose past catches up with him as she learns that he used to work for gangsters. The movie won the FIPRESCI prize awarded by the International Federation of Film Critics.

Oscar-winning Hungarian director Istvan Szabo, chairman of the New Currents jury, praised 'Love Conquers All' as "a beautiful film using a known cinematic language but in a very, very nice way". The movie was backed by the Hubert Bals Fund of the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Tan said it's difficult to get the Malaysian Government's funding and assistance for Chinese-language films because the Malaysian authorities only classify movies that have 70% or more of their script in the ethnic Malay language as being Malaysian. Tan said she will use the $30,000 (euro 23,742) cash prize to finance her company, Da Huang Pictures, which also produces movies by other directors.

So, Abdullah is very wrong to say that his half-past six Islam Hadhari government provided opportunities to the Malaysian Chinese to be successful. Sleeping again, Pak Lah?

For sometime now, there have been been rumours saying that the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi feel asleep when chairing meetings in Putrajaya. In anyway, we can know for sure that he was sleeping when he talks about this son's Scomi Group of companies.

At his meeting with the former premier Tun Dr. Mahathir in Putrajaya yesterday, the PM denied he favoured his son by giving him lucrative government projects. Perhaps Abdullah really wasn't aware that starting this month, Scomi Marine Bhd would be transporting coal from Indonesia and Australia under a US$50 million contract awarded by TNB in April, just before the start of the PM's problems with Tun Dr. Mahathir.

Ironically, when the tender was called, Scomi was NOT even one of the seven companies short-listed. The 7 were Malaysian Bulk Carrier, Wawasan Bulk Services Sdn Bhd, Duta Marine Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Merchant Marine Bhd, PNSL Bhd, Habib Corporation Bhd and Selayang Shipping Sdn Bhd.

The PM also probably didn't know that you can actually win a contract without bidding for it! Here's how Scomi Marine, the associate company of Scomi Group, the giant corporation owned by his only son, did it:

12 July 2005 - Tender ads appear in the media. Closing date 12 August.
22 Aug 2005 - Technical committee recommends that 5 of the seven bidders be accepted for further evaluation. Wawasan's proposed price is the lowest. Habib is disqualified.
23 Aug 2005 - Opening the second envelope. Habib is back in the running.
7 Oct 2005 - TNB Fuel Board meets to discuss recommendations made by the Commercial Evaluation Committee to award the project to 4 companies. Habib and another company to be dropped unless they matched Wawasan's proposed price.
4 Jan 2006 - TNB Fuel Board decides to award the project to ALL six companies.
28 Feb 2006 - Letter from the Ministry of Finance [the PM is the Minister of Finance, by the way] approving the awarded party as recommended by the TNB Board.
12 April - TNB Fuel issues "Letter of Intent" to ... Scomi Marine Berhad!
25 April 2006 - TNB Fuel receives "Form 13" dated 27 Sept 2005 on change of company name from Habib Corp Bhd to Scomi Marine Bhd.

The three-year contract took effect from October 2006.

"Most developed" problems in "most developed" state

In 2006 alone, the so-called most developed state in Malaysia suffered various nightmares like the "most developed flood" in Shah Alam (the state capital) on February 26 and the "most developed smelly water" incident.

The 2 state-owned companies, Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd (KPS) and Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB), recorded a pre-tax loss of RM97,904,000.00 and RM188,780,000.00 respectively for the year 2005, totaling RM286,684,000.00. The financial results of both the companies were provided to the Bursa Malaysia on 28.2.2006.

Selangor had recorded an economic growth of 5.2% in 2005 and it is ironic that in such a conducive economic environment, the state investment arm itself had stumbled. The state reserves had constantly decreased from 1997 to 2004 for a total of 75%, and the further losses suffered by the state investment arm had certainly raised the alarm to the incapability of the state government. Thanks to Khir Yoyo's "most developed" administration of the state.

"Most developed" local council

After proudly declaring Selangor as the only developed state in the country, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd. Khir bin Toyo should also declare Klang Municipal Council (MPK) as the most developed local council in Malaysia.

Why not? Even when Zakaria's issue is still on the highlight, we have another MPK councillor joining the embarassing fracas. MPK councillor Mazlynoor Abdul Latiff’s mansion was also built without getting MPK’s approval.

When asked on what action would be taken, MPK president Abdul Bakir Zin said the councillors would be slapped with the maximum fine (but the houses will not be demolished). Mazlynoor has this to say, "as submitting the construction involved costs, I went ahead with the construction. I will submit the plans after Hari Raya".

Klang residents should emulate both of the MPK councillors when they want to build their new house or develop their land. Why submit the plans for approval when the people's representatives are not doing it? So much for the Kepimpinan Melalui Teladan (leadership by example). Everything will be OK!

- In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, he admitted that 2/3 of his works are related to land development and project approvals. An UMNO veteran advised him "Setiausaha Politik engkau, Dr Karim selama ini buat berkaitan permohonan tanah. Jangan terlalu golojoh sangat mahu mengaut segala kekayaan daripada tanah-tanah yang diluluskan".
- He approved 6 land development projects to 6 different companies, where all 6 companies has the same director.
- His family's vacation (inclusive of his aides) in Australia are fully funded by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS).
- He approved the "Jalan Cross Ban 4, Sungai Panjang" road construction project valued at RM92.5 million. The contract was given to a company (Meram Holding Sdn Bhd.) that has been blacklisted by the Public Works Department (JKR). JKR also estimated that the costs for the project should be around RM20 million only.
- After becoming the Menteri Besar for 3 months, he managed to settle his BBMB loan for his semi-detached house. The house is valued at RM150,000. How did he get those money?
- He rejected the tabling of the "Enakmen Pengisytiharan Harta Milikan Wakil Rakyat Negeri Selangor" which requires all Yang Berhormats in Selangor to declare their assets.
- The son of a district officer, whose aged is 20 years old, is allowed to buy 50 acres of land.
- He suggested the ban of the sale on condoms, which are sold openly in convenience stores and supermarkets.
- He said that there's nothing wrong for 3 family members become the councillors in Klang.

--UMNO Youth attacking the so-called meritocracy system because there are less than 60% of Malay students in law and pharmacy, whilst conveniently keeping silent about the fact that 90% of overseas scholarship recipients are Malays and that Malays form the vast majority in courses like medicine, accountancy and engineering at local universities.
--Higher Education Minister promising that non-bumiputera Malaysians will never ever step foot into Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
--A poor Chinese teacher’s daughter with 11 A1’s being denied a scholarship, while some Malays who scored 7A’s and whose parents are millionaires being given scholarships.
--Prof. K.S. Jomo was denied a promotion to Senior Professor (not even to Head of Department), although he was backed by references from three Nobel Prize winners. His talent is recognised by a prestigious appointment at the United Nations.
--UMNO Youth accusing Chinese schools of being detrimental to racial integration, while demanding that Mara Junior Science Colleges and other residential schools be kept only for Malays.
--Malay newspaper editors attacking the private sector for not appointing enough Malays to senior management level, whilst insisting that the government always ensure that Malays dominate anything government-related.
--At our local universities, not a single Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor is non-Malay.
--In the Malaysian government, not a single Secretary-General of any ministry is non-Malay. The same goes for all government agencies like the police, armed forces, etc.
--UMNO screaming for the Malay Agenda, but accusing everyone else of racism for whispering about equality.
--A poor Indian lady having to pay full price for a low-cost house after being dispossessed from a plantation, whilst Malay millionaires demand their 10% bumiputera discount when buying RM2 million bungalows in a gated community.
--National schools becoming more and more Islamic by the day, enforced by overzealous principals.
--Form 4 World History (Sejarah Dunia) syllabus, which now contains only one chapter of world history, with Islamic history covering the rest of the book.
--Come National Day every year, non-Malays will be reminded to be patriotic.

Takaful apologised after DAP's intervention

After coming under a week of public protests, Takaful Malaysia's Syariah department head Mohd Fauzi Mustaffa today withdrew a inflammatory email circular directing staff not to convey greetings to Hindu clients during religious festivals.

Mohd Fauzi reiterated that the contents of the circular represented his personal opinion and not those of the Islamic insurance company.

When the Prime Minister of Malaysia felt compelled to declare that "I am in control" repeatedly after almost 3 years in office, something must be very radically wrong.

In any event, to demonstrate that he is indeed "in control", Abdullah should exercise "control" over his ass-sucking son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ), who is undoubtedly the most influential and powerful person at the 4th floor of the Prime Minister's Office building, Perdana Putra.

9MP is the most embarassing Malaysia Plan

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has been repeatedly asked about the criticisms from his former boss, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad. And each time, Abdullah will say, "I don't have time to address all of these. Let my ministers reply to Tun. I need to focus on ensuring that the 9MP is right on track."

The 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP) is the most embarassing Malaysia Plan in the history. The tabling of the 9MP in Parliament by Abdullah was delayed for over 6 months. In Malaysia's history, the economic development plans (known as the Malaysia Plans) have been tabled in the Parliament before the phase begins. The 9MP was tabled when the country is already in the 9MP phase.

Did Abdullah really focus on the 9MP or just tried to hide his weaknesses behind it?

Few of the projects in the 9MP had actually been completed in the 8th Malaysia Plan (8MP) phase. Among those are the Shah Alam high court complex and a highway in the state of Kedah. In Perak, the Menteri Besar admitted that some funds in the 9MP have been allocated to cancelled projects.

He said, "RM796 million was allocated in the 9MP to build the double-track electric train project, but this project has already been cancelled when the Prime Minister first took over the country's administration in 2003". He also said, "In anyway, we will still take the allocated fund and channel it towards other development projects in the state". Well done, Mr. Prime Minister!

Port Klang assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Md Deros is one of the Majlis Perbandaran Klang (Klang Municipal Council) MPK's councillors. He did not need to submit any plan for approval when he built his palace residence. Now, Zakaria's son Mr. Zainuri and daughter-in-law Roselinda Abdul Jamil are being appointed councillors in MPK.

Klang residents viewed this as "building fiefdoms" within the council, with Federation of Klang District Residents Association vice-president Loo Hock Chai said, "we cannot tolerate this kind of appointments". Klang's famous Little India businessmen representative N.P. Raman said, "3 members from a family can overrule the council president in a sub-committee meeting that normally has 5 members".

Despite the people's objections, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo has said that there is nothing wrong in appointing three members of a family as municipal councillors. "It is by virtue of their party positions, it is fine as long as they do not abuse their positions", he said.

This can only happen in Prime Minister Abdullah's half-past six administration.

Abdul Salim Mohd Nor had a small food stall in Klang. His stall was pulled down by MPK's (Majlis Perbandaran Klang - Klang Municipal Council) enforcement unit on Aug 18 2006 (after two days notice) following a MPK councillor's directive. Abdul Salim's stall was demolished as it was competing with a neighbouring food stall, linked to the same councillor. MPK explained that Abdul Salim was given a licence only for a mobile food stall but he had built a permanent structure. Abdul Salim was supporting his widowed deaf-mute sister and her five children and is servicing a RM10,000 loan he took from Bank Simpanan Nasional to expand his business.

MPK councillor Datuk Zakaria Md Deros built his palace/mansion without submitting the required building plans. His huge house was built on a piece of state land that had been alienated to his wife Zizah Ngah. MPK council president Abdul Bakir Zin said, "our planning department had instructed him to submit the relevant plans for inspection and approval but he gave excuses. It’s a headache for me". When informed of Abdul Bakir’s revelation that Zakaria had refused to submit the plans despite being told several times, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo was evasive, saying that he would only comment after reading the report.

Zakaria’s soon-to-be-completed mansion dwarfs the other houses in Kampung Idaman, Klang.

Final decision? A RM5,000 fine! MPK said that it would not demolish their councillor’s massive bungalow. MPK council president Abdul Bakir Zin said, "The bungalow will not be demolished as it is already 80% completed". Khir Toyo adds on, "this shows that no one is above the law".

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak wants Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon to show that he represents all races following criticism that he was not doing enough for Malays in Penang. In another occasion, Datuk Seri Najib said that "we do not take away opportunities for other races in this country". Prime Minister Abdullah has said, "we will be fair to all communities, I am the Prime Minister of all Malaysians".

But in Ipoh, a government circular compelling all state department heads to buy stationery and rent photocopiers only from bumiputra companies has sparked a public outcry. DAP Socialist Youth chief Mr. Nga Kor Ming , said the policy was a “serious marginalisation” of non-bumiputra suppliers.

When contacted, state Financial Officer Datuk Jamalludin Al Amini Ahmad declined comment. Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazal said "there is nothing inappropriate in granting certain privileges to bumiputra companies". He said such dealings were considered small and would not marginalise non-bumiputra suppliers. "We gave them (bumiputra suppliers) the jobs because we know they are capable of supplying the goods to us”, said Tajol.

According to Article 11(4), federal law may control or restrict the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among persons professing the religion of Islam (tidak boleh menyebarkan agama lain kepada Muslim).

According to the Malaysia Agreement signed in 1963, Sabah would form Malaysia only if the 20 points raised by it was adhered to. One of the most important condition imposed by Sabah in the 20 points was that there would be no state religion in Sabah and that there would be absolute freedom to profess and propagate any religion. This includes the freedom to propagate any religion to any person in the state. This was agreed to.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said there was no need for the government to prove the ASLI institute wrong. "The government will continue to insist on the official data. We hope this will be accepted and will not be questioned by anyone." Najib also cautioned non-governmental organisations from raising "sensitive matters" that could be seen as seditious.

On Takaful Malaysia's "No Deepavali greetings" email:
Takaful Malaysia's Syariah Department head Fauzi Mustaffar sent an internal email to Takaful Malaysia staff forbidding Muslims from wishing Hindu friends "Happy Deepavali" and telling Muslim employees who have "committed the sin of extending such greetings" to repent. Takaful Malaysia public relations department head Lokman Abdul Rahman said the email was "for the purpose of internal circulation and as an advice or an opinion for our staff only." DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said that Fauzi "should be sacked or be investigated under the 1948 Sedition Act".

45% Bumiputera equity

ASLI's Director resigned and stand by the 45% bumiputra equity report, non-Malay ministers kept quiet and self-marginalised themselves, son-in-law KJ said "damage is done".

Cabinet yesterday accepted the apology extended by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) for its report on 45% bumiputra equity ownership. Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar expressed satisfaction with the ASLI statement and gladness that the issue would not be dragged on further.

Minister for Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said ASLI’s apology and retraction of the controversial report, which he had earlier dismissed as “rubbish”, was proper although it was late, but this was better as ASLI itself had admitted the wrong methodology used to evaluate bumiputra equity ownership.

There is a thunderous silence by MCA, Gerakan, MIC, SUPP Ministers and others from Sabah and Sarawak after the Cabinet meeting yesterday.

If these Ministers agree with Muhyiddin and Syed Hamid that the report of ASLI’s Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) on “Corporate Equity Distribution: Past Trends and Future Policy” was “rubbish”, let them have the courage of their conviction to speak up publicly to justify their position. If they had disagreed, having different views, let them speak up too.

Or is their silence the latest proof of their marginalization in the Cabinet and the highest decision-making councils in the Barisan Nasional government – where they dare not and cannot express their views on important national issues with far-reaching consequences for the nation and future generations!

Untuk makluman tuan/puan, Durga Pooja mengikut kepercayaan penganut agama hindu adalah tuhan dewi yang mempunyai tangan yang banyak dan bersilang yang biasanya kelihatan di kuil-kuil hindu. Setelah meneliti ketiga-tiga perayaan tadi maka jelaslah ianya ada kaitan secara langsung dengan kepercayaan agama hindu.

Seluruh kakitangan Xxxxxxx Malaysia adalah dilarang untuk mengucapkan ucap selamat kepada ketiga perayaan di atas dan lain lain lagi yang sepertinya kerana ianya boleh menyebabkan berlakunya syirik.

Ucapan Happy Durga Pooja, Happy Lakshmi Pooja dan Happy Deepavali seolah-olah mengucap selamat buat tuhan hindu yang bernama Durga, Laksmi dan Krishna. Dan ianya jelas bertentangan dengan akidah Islam.

Allah berfirman dalam surah ali-’Imran ayat 18 yang bermaksud: “Allah telah bersaksi bahawa tiada tuhan selain Dia”. Dalam surah Muhammad ayat 1 Allah berfirman yang bermaksud: “Maka ketahuilah bahawa tiada tuhan selain Allah”.

Bagi mereka yang telah terlanjur mengucap selamat kepada penganut hindu seperti ketiga-tiga greetings di atas maka hendaklah segera bertaubat dan tidak mengulanginya lagi pada masa-masa akan datang. Semoga usaha kita untuk mengamalkan Syariat sebagai budaya korporat XxxxxxxXxxxxxxx diberkati Allah dan mencapai kejayaan yang kita harapkan.
