Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's cruel government does not listen to the people

Bok House, located on Jalan Ampang nearby the Petronas Twin Towers is probably one of the most visible yet least remembered relic of early Kuala Lumpur. The home will probably be best remembered as Le Coq d'or (The Golden Cockerel), a small restaurant and bar which florished in the early 60's and continued to run until the house was closed to the public in 2001. Well-known civil engineering firm of Swan & Maclaren designed and built the Bok House in 1929, which represented Kuala Lumpur's grandest neo-classical mansion.

Bok House was the epitome of style and luxury in Malaysia's capital city. Its magnificent Palladian style interior and exterior are still unmatched. The famous wood panelled dining room, its art nouveau chandeliers and high ceiling still have no match in KL despite the plethora of new and trendy luxury dining establishments. However, Bok House is now gone, forever.

The
sleepy Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's government demolished the heritage building on 15 December 2006. Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) decided that the history-rich building must go. This is in despite of various objections and appeals by the Malaysian public to the government to preserve the heritage building.

Various appeal letters were written to the government and
the media, national newspapers such as The Star and The New Straits Times published articles about the heritage building, NGOs such as Badan Warisan Malaysia fought hard for the survival of Bok House while the common people expressed their feelings through their blogs and webpages. The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) stated that it would be proud and honoured to serve as the caretaker and custodian of Bok House. Even the Malaysian Institute of Architects does its part too.

But Abdullah Ahmad Badawi doesn't care. His
racist Islam Hadhari government does not listen to the people at all. The cruel government only wants the people to listen and to believe in this liar.

"Without heritage, civilisation is gone and developing states will be detached from history" ~ Datuk Seri Rais Yatim, Malaysian Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, 29 May 2006.
